The hidden beaches of Rio ...

Sat on a rocky peak overlooking the sea, the village of Barra de Guaratiba seems to guard the South-West entrance of Rio. The whole trip to this peninsula offers views on kilometers of white-sand beaches, from the most famous ones such as Ipanema to the most deserted ones such as Praia do Meio, Perigoso. To access the last ones, forget your car and go hiking along a narrow path following the coastline. Your efforts will be rewarded by the still-wild beauty of the place. Rocks take animal shapes and Ipanema’s beach umbrellas look tiny on the horizon.
